Drunk Driving is dangerous, bad, takes lives, and can change peoples lives for the victim and the attacker. Why would you even drive if you have already have gotten drunk? This just makes no sense with people. I was shocked and felling bad for the parents and the people that things have happened to them. I really feel bad for Jackie. She was so beautiful and just horrible this man almost killed her because he was drinking and driving. OMG I really fell bad for Jackie.

Drunk driving or driving under the influence (DUI) is a hazard for the one driving, and the ones around the driver, or in the vicinity of an accident caused by one. Drunk driving can be especially dangerous to minors and underaged children in the car, or in cars around. Never should someone drive drunk, though minds are fooled through drinking. People should be cautious and aware of how much drinking they are doing.

  3. No, my perceptions of drunk driving have not changed. I do take the offense more seriously though. The boy had a great life set out for him. He was a star football player, got good grades, and was known as a good kid around the town. One bad mistake changed his life forever. When you drink and drive, you affect everyone around you, including yourself. He completely damaged this girl's life forever. She will have to live with the loss of her two friends, and the burns that made her deformed. He affected his life too. He now will not be able to do the things he could have accomplished because of this blemish on his resume and the jail time he will face.

I think that drunk driving is very bad and I know that I will never do it and will make sure that none of my family or friends will ever do it. I have always taken this very serious and this does make me see it more seriously. I felt really bad for her and i am really happy that she is happy that she is alive even though she has to struggle through so much. I was happy that she forgave the guy that hit her even though it was his decision to drive drunk it was just a mistake and he never meant to do that to her.

  5. My perceptions of drunk driving did change a lot. I didn't know that you could get injure that seriously without dying. I was so amazed that this girl could get through life with her whole body changed and burned. I do take the offense more seriously and I was amazed that this girl could forgive a man who did this to her. He deserves to be in jail for drunk driving, but She treated him so well and that just makes her an amazing person to automatically forgive him, and she knew he was a good person who made a terrible mistake. I don't know how she could live the rest of her life looking like a completely different person, but she can and that just makes her a really special person. Jackie is one of the most amazing people. If she can get through an accident and losing her real body and losing her friends, than she can get through anything.

  6. The video we watched in class today really made me think that the penalty for drinking while intoxicated should be alot more severe, because of the injuries and devastation's that were caused.

  8. My perceptions of drunk driving were always that it was really bad and can cause really bad things and you will regret it. I do take this offense more seriously because after seeing how much it changed this women’s life so much. She fights to live every day. The girl had nothing do with it. She did nothing wrong. Then she was burned almost to death. Not only did she get the rest of her life difficult. But the drunk driver also took two other innocent lives. Even though he did this much damage he didn’t do any damage to himself. I think that is it not always that bad. But you shouldn’t do it anyway. I think it is really weird of the lady that was burned to death to forgive the drunk driver. I know if I was the person I would of not forgen him. It was his actions. If he would of never drank and drove then she wouldn’t of been in this situation. I think that the drunk driving law should be more enforced especially if you kill someone. You should get the same as homicide. 25 to life. Even though the guy who did it was a good person. He still made a horrible mistake that cannot be taken back and changed the lives of the lady that was burned the two people he killed and all of there families.

  9. yes cause i saw what could happen to someone when you drink and drive.I think the penalty for drunk driving should be much more severe for the driving when drunk. So drunk driving is a terrible thing.

I always had a negative view on drunk driving, and would never participate in the act. I never thought though that something like this could affect a person so that bad. She is a very strong woman and I would never want to hold the guilt of affecting the life of someone by a small mistake. I believe that the punishment should very strong so the victim will be aware of the causes that could affect the rest of their life. Such an innocent person with a pressured choice should be aware of the punishments and understand the consequences that others have taken, like the people in the video.

  11. What happened to that girl was insane and I never really took time to think about drunk driving. It wasn't even her fault and now look at her. Someone else so foolishly thought it would be ok to drive under the influence of alcohol, not concerning the danger of themselves and people around them.
I believe that people should really pay more attention to the welfare of others and think before they act. I never really thought about situations like this but now after seeing that girl, I would never want to harm myself or anyone else like that. Its just wrong and the guilt would absolutely kill me.

  12. I think that people shouldn't get in a car with someones who is drunk. You never know what could happen to you when being a passenger of a drunk driver. If they tell you nothing will happen, be responsible and take their keys from them. The consequences could be serious, such as killing yourself or others. I don't think you should drink and drive because the concequences could be really bad

I have always known how dangerous drunk driving can be, so this video has not changed my perceptions. I have always known that people die all the time from drunk driving. This video only strengthened my thoughts against drunk driving.

  14. I think my perceptions of drunk driving hasn't changed because I know drunk driving will lead to something bad, but i also didn't that something could happen like what that girl went through. I think the offense is fair. What I saw in class was this girl getting into a car accident where she was serverly burned and it has changed her life.

  15. I feel bad for her, but I think she's glad that she's happy, alive and walking. I believe she made a good choice about forgiving the man who had did it,. My opinion hasn't changed. Drunk Driving is still bad no matter where you are and How drunk you are. It should taken more serious than it is right now.

I have always believed that drunk driving is bad, but this video made me realized how bad it can be. Many people die but she has to look in the mirror everyday and live with the fact that she can't fully function, as well as being cared for by her father daily. She realizes that she could've died and she still has to live through many surgeries and struggles daily. I do take the offense a little more seriously because although tragedy's like that are rare, Jacqui was an innocent women who didn't even do anything wrong but has to suffer for someone else's mistake everyday of her life. I believe that she is one of the most beautiful people that I've ever heard about. Although a stupid mistake made a teenager to drive while intoxicated changed her life, Jacqui still forgives him and doesn't hate him. I think that seeing Jacqui's condition made him realize the consequence of his actions, which was probably better then any amount of time spent in jail. I do take the offense very seriously and i commend Jaqui for fighting every day of her life no matter what is thrown at her.

I always thought drunk driving was wrong but even now I still believe it wrong but even more than before. Drink and driving should be punishment should be taking more seriously. The offense should be more time in jail or you are not allowed to drive for a year after. When I saw her face I was so surprise I felt so bad for her she had to go though so much and she will never look the same. I feel she did the right thing for forgiving him why should she live her life hating him when she had alot of other things to do.

  18. Before watching this, I was against drunk driving but this video made my opinion stronger. I realize that this does not happen to everyone, but the results of drunk driving can be life changing. I feel so sorry for that woman who had to go through the tragedy. I think that the man who caused the crash should be severely punished because he basically took that woman's life. Even though she survived, every day of her life is a fight. She has such a difficult life and goes through so much everyday. I think drunk driving is very wrong and should try to be prevented.

  19. I feel like this video didnt really change my opinions about drunk driving because i already knew how dangerous it could be. That kid could have been more responsible by getting a ride from a friend who was not drinking, from a family member, or even called a taxi. Making one simple phone call could have saved that girl and the 9 other lives that were lost that day. I think it is very honorable for the girl to forgive him for what he did to her life. I also think that the kids that let there friend get in the car drunk should also feel responsible. They should have taken his keys away and gotten him a ride.

  20. I still have the same perception of drunk driving even after watching the video in class today. I believe that Drinking and Driving is a terrible action that can not only kill or damage yourself but others too. In class today we watched a video about a drunk driver who crashed into a car, lighting it on fire which then led to the near death of a beautiful young women. She was on fire and her skin and body started to melt off of her. This was a traumatizing experience and now the drunk driver has to deal with the guilt of killing several people along with leaving a new image with an innocent girl. She still has to undergo several operations, and will never be the same. My reaction to all of this was utter shock. This girl was able to survive a terrible experience and live on with her life seeing through forgiving eyes. She does not hold a grudge for the person who has made her life so challenging.

  21. (We watched the wrong part video in class, but we did watch the story of the man leaving his son in the car when he went into work.)

A simple mistake can lead to a lifetime of regret. This is something learned by Todd, when he left his son Tyler in the car when he went into work. It was an unconscious decision, he never meant to purposely leave his son in the back of the car. It wasn't even like it was a normal routine; he normally drove his daughter to school, but on this one day, he was supposed to bring his son to the babysitters house. He had so much on his mind that morning, and he literally FORGOT his son in the back of his car. The feeling of guilt took over when he had to face his wife, before that, even. On the emergency call, he continued repeating "Oh my god, it's all my fault. All my fault. This is all my fault, oh my god." I cannot begin to even feel the guilt and fear he must have felt when he realized his son was not breathing. He was taken to the police station, perhaps they thought it was intentional? This is what I find terrible. This man does not know if his son can be saved, all he wanted at this point was to go to the hospital and make sure his son would be okay. He did not intentionally hurt his son, it was an honest mistake. Finally, the police must have realized this, and hours later he was set free. He immediately ran to the hospital, and before he even had the chance to see his wife, he was informed of his child's death. He ran into the room where his wife sat in a rocking chair holding their diseased child, and fell to the floor begging for forgiveness. I'm sure, at that point, his wife was still in shock that they will not be able to see Tyler grow up, and not really thinking about how this happened. Perhaps, why this HAD to happen, but not how quite yet. Who would have thought that an unconscious decision such as having something simple slip your mind, could end up with a man feeling complete and utter regret? This story is one I will not soon forget.

Watching Oprah's movie today in class has taught me that humans do make mistakes and that it’s apart of life to live, grow and learn from the mistake that has occurred. This movie taught me that the simple mistake that we take for granted and do not learn from can respond in changing someone’s if not our self's life forever. Before I saw the movie I always thought that people who are caught behind the steering wheel intoxicated should be put behind bars strictly for not caring about there own life and the safety for others. (I still think that even after watching the movie). Also while watching the movie I also couldn’t help but feeling a little sympathy for the guy that was put at fault for his reckless actions. But I guess it would be all right to say that, “to make conscious decisions is way better then making unconscious decisions”, because one little mistake based on not thinking can and will change anybody’s life forever.

After watching the video today in class, my perceptions have change a little bit. I always new that drunk driving was very bad and very harmful, but not to this extreme. I never new that it could ruin one's image of themselves. Most of the situations that are mention many times are always getting in an accident and someone going to jail. Here, they actually burned one's face and took the beauty. I take drunk driving more offensively now then I ever will after watching the video. I will always have in the back of my head now, the image of the girl before and after, and it will stick with me. I will now go back to how drunk driving had ruined one's life forever.

  24. My perception of drunk driving did not really change that much. I knew that drunk driving was a serious offense and results in many innocent deaths every year. People driving while intoxicated should be aware that they are putting the lives of other people in jeopardy. Next time I am sure the boy in the story will think twice before driving after a party.

My perception of drunk driving has changed, I now found more about how serious drunk driving can be. I knew that drunk driving was dangerous and the effects of it could and most likely be death but I couldn't believe that happened to that girl. Her life is completely different from what it was.
I will definently take the offense more seriously. I will take this more seriously because i now know about more of the affects of drunk driving.

  27. after i saw how badly the girl was harmed by the drunk driver it made me think how bad drunk driving really is. but i think she was very positive for her situation. it was very depressing that her whole life was changed just because one person made a bad choice, and she didn't even do anything. it also makes me think about his jail time and that he is going to to be out of jail in a few years even though he made a huge impact on someones life and killed other people. overall i think this is a sad story but also inspiring because of how positive she was considering how her life was changed so much.

  28. My opinion hasn't changed only because the video was based on the extreme consequences of drunk driving. We are all taught the dangers of drinking and driving and I think that if we arent aware by this time it's too late. We are constantly exposed to the prevention programs and what not. I think that what happened was wrong but my views on the matter are set.
